Formation for four brothers of the community

ree

The Notre-Dame des Sources monastery was founded in 1947 by Benedictine monks from the Katanga foundation of Saint-André Abbey (Bruges, Belgium). After several relocations, it was established 15 km from Lubumbashi in 1960. The monastery is part of the Benedictine Congregation of the Annunciation.

In October 2017, at the request of the local bishop, three brothers were sent on mission to the diocese of Kilwa-Kasenga, founded by the Benedictines in the 1910s and without a Benedictine presence since 1960, where they are in charge of a parish.

The Kiswishi community has about forty brothers, including a dozen novices.

The Kiswishi community practises agriculture and livestock farming. A small school and a medical centre have been built by the brothers. A guesthouse with about forty rooms welcomes retreatants.
